Effective Treatment For Athlete's Foot

Athlete’s Foot is usually caused by the fungi that typically occur and multiply in wet and moist areas. The bad disclosure regarding this fungal infection is that it is highly contagious. A simple body contact with an individual who has an Athlete’s Foot can easily transmit you the fungi which cause the said skin disease.

Athlete’s Foot, or what is also known as Tinea Pedis, is characterized by flaking and scaling and itching of the skin. It usually occurs in between the toes of your feet. However, do not be complacent about the people not seeing your affected skin area. Athlete’s Foot can also occur on your hands, groin and other parts of the body. And worse, it can spread to your whole body.

Good thing is you can prevent and treat an Athlete’s Foot. Several measures of prevention are there to help you from acquiring this fungal infection. The first measure is to have a proper personal hygiene. Most people now are forgetting the benefits of personal hygiene to their health. They are more focused on treating a particular disease after it has occurred rather than preventing that disease from occurring. Good personal hygiene involves taking a bath everyday and frequently washing your hands and your feet. This is done to avoid bacteria and fungi from penetrating your body. Using socks and replacing it everyday with a new pair are also a part of the proper personal hygiene especially for your feet. You can also use talcum powder for your sweaty feet. The reason for this is to avoid moistness and dampness of the feet which usually induce the occurrence of those fungi that cause Athlete’s Foot.

If you, however, have forgotten these preventive measures and you have acquired Athlete’s Foot, you can still do something to treat it. Athlete’s Foot treatment is easily available in your home and in a near health store. There are now several over-the-counter anti-fungal creams which can restore your healthy skin. These creams generally contain clotrimazole which helps fight against fungi. In just a week or two of using these creams, your feet are cleared of any fungi-causing Athlete’s Foot. Another Athlete’s Foot treatment is the use of prescription drugs. Normally, this particular Athlete’s Foot treatment is only advised for severe cases of this skin disease. Topical medicines and antibiotics are prescribed by doctors for a higher level case of Athlete’s Foot in an individual.

For better effects, the listed Athlete’s Foot treatment above must be accompanied by a proper personal hygiene. It always goes back to how you handle care for your body and health. But if you still have that Athlete’s Foot after trying the suggested treatments mentioned here, it is time that you must consult your doctor. This is particularly true if you have fever and your feet become swollen and there is pus in it. Do not let Athlete’s Foot stay with you for over a month. Immediately contact your doctor about it.
